Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby colored Merlot from Washington State opens with a fragrant black cherry and red licorice bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth and juicy. The flavor profile is a black cherry and menthol blend with notes of smoky oak. We also detected hints of tart black plum mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins and a touch of heat linger for quite some time. The Panel would pair this very good Merlot with a homemade meatloaf. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2014 vintage has rich concentrated aromas of raspberry, plum, mint, cedar, and chocolate that lead into flavors of nutmeg and vanilla. The wine is big and bold and was created to enjoy now, or for many years to come as it will age gracefully. Pair with herbed leg of lamb and grilled vegetables.
