Wine Review: This opaque and midnight blue colored Zinfandel opens with a mild blackberry and anise like bouquet with a hint of cedar and musty black raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth and fruity. The flavor profile is a mild blackberry with notes of old oak, plum, and a hint of anise and raisin. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are dusty and sticky. The flavors resonate for a while as well. This wine would pair well with spicy food, like jambalaya or chicken and shrimp paella or even a sloppy Joe sandwich. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Tasting this Zinfandel is really like swallowing a bit of Mendocino history since the vines that produced it are older than many of our customers. Bold and confident with olallieberry and plum intensity, it is great with manicotti or grilled hanger steak.
