Wine Review: This almost clear colored blend of Alsatian heritage grapes opens with a very inviting floral and light lychee bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and nicely balanced between its acidity and fruit. The flavor profile is a mild mineral influenced lime and kiwi blend with hints of ginger and lychee. The finish is off-dry and fades away nicely. This Edelzwicker blend is a quaffer and will be liked by all. I would pair it with Ritz cracker encrusted cod. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: There are four noble (edel) white varieties in Alsace and they are frequently blended with good effect: Gewurztraminer inserts a core of tropical fruit, Riesling provides a backbone of taut acidity, Pinot Gris contributes broadness to the mouthfeel and a dollop of Muscat adds enticing aromas. Boasting a juicy bouquet of pineapple, mango and citrus, this one works well. Try a bottle or two of Edelzwicker with a spicy meal like shrimp curry.
