Wine Review: This white gold colored Chardonnay from Navarro is very good. It opens with a pineapple bouquet with hints of pear and faint peach. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, lively and fresh. The flavor profile is a tangy pineapple with notes of minerality and lemon. I also detected some tangerine and mild new oak in the background. The finish is dry and its flavors and acidity stick around for a while. This Chardonnay would pair nicely with a yogurt-marinated apricot chicken skewers. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine, from a grape standpoint, comes from the same fields as the Première Reserve bottling but in this vintage, not only did we avoid the malolactic fermentation completely, but we also chose the slightly richer lots to balance the increased acidity. Crisp apple/pear flavors with an opulent texture from aging in French oak barrels.
