Wine Review: This dark ruby colored red blend from Navarro is a very good everyday red to consider. It opens with black cherry and cola like bouquet notes of black raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and savory. The flavor profile is a tasty black cherry cola with notes of gentle oak and red plum. The finish is dry and its mild tannins fade away nicely. This wine is a very nice easy to enjoy red that would pair well with lasagna or your favorite gourmet pizza. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Two thirds of this 2012 vintage of Navarrouge was produced from old vine Syrah and Zinfandel grapes. The remaining third of the wine was produced from unused portions of lots that went into Navarro's 2012 varietal bottlings: Pinot Noir, Grenache and Carignan. Each year the blend of grapes used in Navarrouge varies. Not surprisingly, the 2012 Navarrouge is complex and full bodied with brambly flavors of black cherries, licorice and a hint of tobacco. At this price, the Navarrouge will disappear faster than Nonna's Bolognese sauce.
