Wine Review: This light yellow colored dessert wine opens with a fragrant ripe lemon bouquet with a hint of orange tea. On the palate, this wine is light to medium bodied, slightly acidic and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a pleasantly sweet peach tea with hints of honey and quince. The finish remains sweet and its flavors last for a very long time after the wine is gone. I would serve this wine with sliced green apples and sharp Manchego cheese. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: After two October storms in 2011, botrytis was rampant in our Riesling vineyards; the rain stopped, the days were cool and the nighttime temperatures were in the forties. In late October, dehydrated clusters and berries started falling on the ground, so we finally decided to harvest. This wine is a gift of those storms, the rot they caused and then, the dry weather that followed. Riesling's stone-fruit flavors are layered with botrytis's signature of honey, apricot and pineapple.
