Wine Review: This very dark violet blend from Murrieta's Well opens with a fragrant blackberry and chocolate Necco wafer like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a black cherry and cocoa blend with hints of red plum, oak and red licorice. The finish is dry and its moderate chalky tannins stick around for a bit. This is a blend that needs food. I would pair it with veal stew with potatoes. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Spur 2013 is crafted from blending the classic Bordeaux varietals with a Petite Sirah foundation and offers a distinctively California expression. Beautiful fruit aromas of black cherry and blueberry are highlighted by subtle notes of sweet oak and earthy spice. A ripe tannic structure and balanced acidity make this wine perfect by itself or paired with your favorite recipes from the grill.
