Wine Review: This food friendly Spanish wine has spent three years aging in oak barrels and it shows. It is an almost opaque dark garnet and displays blackberry, forest floor, spice and vanilla in the bouquet with some hints of pencil shavings and mint. On the palate, it has a medium body and medium acidity and is dry, balanced and quite smooth. I found flavors of spiced plum and dark cherry with notes of black licorice, black pepper and oak. There are plenty of gritty tannins that smooth out quite a bit after the bottle has been opened for an hour. The finish is dry and moderate in length. This good value Tempranillo would go nicely with a plate of dried salamis and cheese. – Mark
