Wine Review: This dark ruby colored wine from Rioja begins with green oak and eucalyptus aromas along with traces of tree resin and beeswax. In the mouth, the wine is medium in body with a mixture of black and blue fruits, dominated by black raspberry flavors. Tangy mineral-driven acidity and moderate tannins give it structure, while the oak is mellower than the nose would suggest. Overall, the wine is skillfully balanced, very smooth and its vanilla-infused finish goes on for a considerable time. Consider pairing with Carne Guisada (Puerto Rican Beef Stew) built from a sofrito base. - Jeoff
Winemaker Notes: Red ruby color with a distinctive brick orange rim. It has an aromatic explosion of fine oak (vanilla, coffee, and spices), very mature fruit such as raisins, as well as caramel and subtle bottle aging sensations (leather and dry leaves). These aromas become more intense and complex as the wine begins to breathe. On the palate, the wine is perfectly assembled, full of velvet silkiness and finesse. A classic Rioja that is only produced in superior vintages. This wine is ideal with all types of grilled and roasted meats, and game stews. It also pairs well with black chocolate desserts.
