Wine Review: This pitch black colored Merlot from Mt. Brave is a big boy wine. It opens with a fragrant blackberry and boysenberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, nicely balanced, rich and fruit forward. The flavor profile is an extracted blackberry with notes of black licorice and minerality. I also detected hints of black raspberry and a touch of plum towards the end. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. This bold styled Merlot is ideal for a steak. I would enjoy it with a New York strip steak at your favorite steakhouse. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2013 growing season was another near perfect year. On the palate the 2013 Mt. Brave Merlot shows dark cherry and spice. A note of salty chocolate carries the aromatic with great texture. Well balanced with typical Mount Veeder acidity.
