Wine Review: This dark pink colored Rose of Pinot Noir from Moret Brealynn opens with a red cherry and strawberry bouquet with hints of cranberry, talc dust, and watermelon. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a tasty strawberry and nectarine blend notes of saline and red plum. We also detected hints of orange zest, stony minerality and watermelon. The finish is dry and refreshing. The Tasting Panel would pair this Rose with a seafood casserole or with seared salmon. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: My inaugural Rose turned out so well I couldn't wait to create another, and I'm glad I did! This wine is from 100% Pinot Noir fruit from some fabulous vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands. The juice for this wine is both free run/table juice and a 36 hour saignee, juice drained out from the tank after contact with the skins. The juice then went into neutral French Oak barrels for fermentation and aging until bottling in December. This is a dry Rose that reminds me of a really mouthwatering, watermelon jolly rancher with a nice minerality on the palate. I expect this to be very food friendly.
