Wine Review: This deep ruby Chilean Carmenère has a very fragrant nose of blackberry, fresh dug earth, and notes of tar, tobacco, and kitchen spices. It is very silky, balanced, and dry on the palate, with a medium-plus body and medium acidity. Slightly concentrated and juicy. It is very approachable. I found flavors of blackberry, rhubarb, coffee, toasty oak, and black olive. It closes with fine-grained tannins and a dry long finish. I would pair this Carmenère with grilled steak tips. - Mark
Winemaker Notes: Deep brick red in color, the nose is ripe with aromas of fig and plum, cherries, and cassis. On the palate, rich cheery liqueur and chocolate and accented by hints of cinnamon. Balanced with very smooth tannins and full body, the complex aromas and flavors linger with persistence. Highly recommended with red meats. Try it with Mongolian beef, spaghetti with Bolognese sauce, or with lambchops with a Cabernet Sauvignon mushroom sauce.
