Wine Review: This dark garnet colored Carmenère based wine from Montes opens with an asphalt and green bell pepper bouquet with hints of blackberry and coffee grounds. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth and polished. The flavor profile is green bell pepper and anise blend with notes of tar and black olive. We also detected hints of graphite, oak, blackberry, oolong tea, & dark chocolate. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and moderate tannins are nicely extended. The Tasting Panel would pair this Carmenère with slow cooked pot roast or braised short ribs. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The wine shows a deep red color, with purple undertones very characteristic of Carmenère. The intense nose reveals aromas of black fruit, such as blackberry and blueberry, accompanied by pleasing spice notes of bell pepper and black pepper, joined by sweet notes from the French oak barrels, delivering a very complex wine. The rounded palate of the wine shows extreme smoothness and potency, with a very long, pleasant finish.
