Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Carmenere opens with a pleasant mild blueberry and boysenberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty blueberry and mineral blend with hints of cocoa and oak. The finish is dry and its moderate controlled tannins are dry and nicely controlled. I would pair this Carmenere with a New York strip steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Montes Alpha Carmenere is a deep ruby-red color with violet highlights. The nose opens with aromas of ripe blackberries and blueberries followed by notes of black plums and dried figs, confiture, milk chocolate, mocha, and a light touch of black pepper. Nicely structured and balanced on the palate, with well-rounded tannins and dairy notes leading to a long and pleasing finish. Highly recommended with red meats, stir-fried beef, pork chops, spaghetti with Bolognese sauce, lamb chops, and mushroom ravioli.
