Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Meritage from the Alexander Valley is really good. It opens with a mild black currant and blueberry bouquet with a hint of black coffee and smoked meat. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, smooth and juicy. The flavor profile is a very tasty mild mineral infused black currant and black cherry blend with notes of mild oak. I also detected hints of plum and blueberry in the background. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins build up and last for a very long time. This wine is food friendly and ready to go. Enjoy it with a New York strip steak. Cheers - Ken
