Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Syrah from the Santa Rita Hills opens with a blueberry and blackberry bouquet with hints of black licorice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and suave. The flavor profile is a tasty chocolate and gentle black cherry blend with notes of blueberry, oak and fine dusty minerality. It closes with faint hints of black licorice and black olive in the aftertaste. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. This Syrah would pair with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Located just 9 miles from the Pacific Ocean, this acclaimed cool-climate vineyard has produced a deep and rustic expression of Syrah, with luscious layers of huckleberry, leather, lavender, blueberry, and anise, as well as hints of cedar, white pepper and minerality that add depth and complexity to the long, vibrant finish.
