Wine Review: This dark red colored Barbaresco from Michele Chiarlo opens with a fragrant new leather and red licorice bouquet with hints of cigar box. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, fresh and bright. The flavor profile is a gentle cedar and red cherry blend with notes of raspberry tea. I also detected hints of red plum. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and medium tannins stick around for a while. I would pair this Nebbiolo with steak pizzaiola. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Garnet red with brilliant hues, this elegant wine expresses a fine bouquet with notes of small red fruits, rose petals and tea leaves. The tannins are fine and aristocratic, and the finish is long and full of flavor.
Food Pairing: Risotto, braised veal shank, lamb with herbs.
