Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Metzker opens with a fragrant ripe black currant, black plum and old leather bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with nice acidity and a smooth mouthfeel. The flavor profile is a blackberry and currant blend with notes of integrated graphite and oak. I also detected hints of black pepper, black olive and black tea mixed in. The finish is dry and its well-managed tannins drift away nicely. This Cab would pair nicely with a roasted duck breast with a pecan purée. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2017 Metzker Cabernet Sauvignon from Spring Mountain District is a seductively rich wine that unfolds new layers of intricacy with every sip. The oak elevates the fruit aromas and provide characteristics of vanilla and toasted marshmallows. The fruit characteristics are reminiscent of boysenberry jam and wild blackberry pie - dark with tangy sweetness laced throughout. The natural acidity helps carry the fruit to the finish making this a wine with great aging potential as well as fabulous drinkability now.
