Wine Review: This ruby colored Pinot Noir from Merryvale opens with a faint black raspberry and oak like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced and approachable. The flavors profile is a mild black raspberry with hints of red licorice, cedar and cinnamon. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins and flavors are sticky and nicely prolonged. This friendly Pinot would pair well with a braised pork belly sandwich. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Back in the late '70s and early '80s Carneros helped launch a revolution in California Pinot Noir. Our cool climate and marine-based soils proved ideal for this finicky variety. Our 2012 bottling delivers ripe aromas of red cherry, strawberry, green tea and spice. The palate is round, earthy and juicy with great acidity and fine supporting tannins. The depth and structure of this wine are a reflection of great terroir and intensive farming methods.
