Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Merry Edwards opens with a black cherry and stewed black plum bouquet with hints of violets, boysenberry, and leather. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with nicely integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, very smooth, and silky. The flavor profile is a stewed red plum and stone dust blend with notes of dried strawberry, cedar, and Dr. Pepper. We also detected hints of orange zest, baking spice, and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins linger and last for quite some time. The Tasting Panel would pair this Pinot with hunter's stew or mushroom risotto. It can also be enjoyed on its own by the firepit. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The Coopersmith vineyard at our winery home is blessed with well-draining Gold Ridge loam and red Sebastopol soils. This vintage of Coopersmith opens with its signature cocoa and chocolate elements, along with vanilla, blackberry jam, fig and ripe olive. Soft and open on the palate, flavors of ripe raspberry, warm cherry compote, black tea, and baking spice give way to blue fruits and a lingering, cocoa-laced finish.
