Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Merry Edwards opens with a black raspberry and oak bouquet with hints of wet stone. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and approachable. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry and black raspberry blend with notes of oak and flinty minerality. I also detected hints of black plum and bay leaf. The finish is dry, and its flavors are nicely prolonged. This Pinot would pair well with duck breast. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine opens with a big, aromatic burst of sweet sassafras, baking spice, blackberries, and stone fruits. In the mouth, it is full and robust with ripe fruit and round tannins. As the wine continues to open, it shows a true purity of fruit and becomes silkier on the palate. Juicy, sweet notes of black cherries, violets and sweet vanilla oak carry though in a long, pleasing finish. Lamb is a classic protein to pair with our Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, so we recommend herb-filled, juicy Mediterranean-style lamb burgers.
