Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Merry Edwards is very good. It opens with a spiced plum and raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and round. The flavor profile is a stewed plum with notes of graphite and cola. I also detected hints of black pepper, black tea, dark chocolate and black cherry. The finish is dry and its tannins build-up and linger for a while. This Pinot is more of the sturdy style and Cab drinkers will like it. It would pair very well with short ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Warmly opulent and sophisticated, this is an intense, inviting Pinot. It's packed with ripe cherry, strawberry fruit leather, brambleberry and blueberry. This fruit expression is heightened by anise, earthy notes, well-integrated toasty oak, and a whisper of violets and white flower blossoms. The highly structured palate shows an energizing interplay between bright, lively acidity and generous, silky tannins. It then broadens and mellows into a lingering, satisfying finale. Aromas follow through, providing a dynamic flavor spectrum, finishing with a peppery salvo.
