Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Pinot Noir from Merry Edwards is very good. It opens with a pleasant mild boysenberry and blueberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, juicy and savory. The flavor profile is a tasty mild mineral influenced gentle blackberry and blueberry blend with notes of oak and red plum. The finish is rather dry and its moderate sticky tannins show nice length for a Pinot. I would pair this Pinot with a beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The aroma of this vintage initially seems shy, with some black raspberry, Elephant Heart plum and sweet cherry, reflective of its Pommard heritage. With a bit of air, an avalanche of scents are released: black licorice, peppercorn, Capocollo salume, dark chocolate, lavender and toasty brioche. In the mouth, this bright Flax is mouthwatering yet structured, dense while firm, agile and elegant. Its tightly coiled tannins are poised to unfold with time. We are currently enjoying the 2008 vintage — the reward for patient aging!
