Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Merry Edwards is very nice. It opens with mild black raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty mild plum with notes of faint oak and gentle minerality. I also detected a hint of grape seed and strawberry. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins linger and last for some time. This Pinot would pair well with veal medallions with fig. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our first impression is an aroma brimming with dark fruit, including black raspberry, boysenberry, elderberry, currant and wild fraise du bois. Next a floral perfume develops, unveiling lilac, violets, hibiscus, dianthus and fragrant blood-red roses. Brown sugar, salami, ginger, white pepper, sweet paprika and crushed cinnamon add a savory, complex dimension to this intricate Pinot Noir. Generous, polished French oak plumps up the body and creates a mouth-filling wine that is at first soft and silky. Tannins continue to build throughout the palate, contouring a firm, lasting finish with good acidity supporting this richness.
