Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Merry Edwards is very good. It opens with a cherry-cola and mild vanilla oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a tasty red raspberry with notes of oak and plum. I also detected hints of strawberry and cola. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. This Pinot would pair well with cranberry and maple chicken. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: On first impression, the aroma is pure fruit - fresh blackberry, dark plum, black raspberry and huckleberry. Add to this currants, strawberry jam, cassis and cherry pie. Sarsaparilla, Lapsang Souchong tea, cocoa, roasted-toasty oak and a bit of vanilla bean round out this Pinot's complex persona. Expectation is high and the palate does not disappoint. The ripe fruit entry flows to a full, weighty mouthfeel. The finish is firm, with sufficient acidity to create a backbone that deserves aging.
