Wine Review: This is the best Klopp Ranch that I have covered. It is bright ruby colored and opens with a fragrant and attractive black cherry bouquet with a hint of strawberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, very well balanced, and extremely elegant. The flavor profile is a delicious blend of black raspberry and black cherry with a hint of black licorice and mild oak in the background. The finish is dry and its fine tannins are slightly prolonged. This gem would pair perfectly with blackened salmon or even filet mignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2007 shows the hallmark Klopp personality – bramble fruit through and through. The aroma is like a trip through the countryside with ripe blueberries, blackberries, and boysenberries all joining in the medley. Notes of cola, sweet vanilla and cassis add to its charm. In the mouth, the tannins are well integrated, smooth and approachable. Savory oak and a touch of rose hips lift the rich, weighty finish. Ken and I enjoy this Pinot with grilled flank steak or rib eye steak, oven-baked garlic potatoes and a chopped salad made from fresh vegetables grown in our garden.
