Wine Review: This medium purple colored Cabernet Franc from Merriam opens with a black cherry and stewed black plum bouquet with hints of strawberry, tobacco leaf and nutmeg. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, balanced, smooth and juicy. The flavor profile is mild black cherry with notes of spiced red plum and black currant. We also detected hints of red raspberry, subtle oak, faint minerality and black pepper. The finish is dry and its gentle fine-grained tannins fade away nicely. This elegant and food friendly Cab Franc would pair well with Carne Asada tacos or smoked brisket. Enjoy – Ken & Mark
