Wine Review: This light straw-colored Fume Blanc from Merriam opens with a lemon-lime and Anjou pear bouquet with hints of pineapple and lychee. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, slightly creamy and bright. The flavor profile is an Anjou pear and lemon-lime blend with notes of honeydew melon and light vanilla. We also detected hints of pineapple, ginger, and passionfruit. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger and lasts for quite a while. This Fume Blanc would pair well with cod fish with fennel in a white wine butter sauce or sole piccata. Winemaker Notes: Beautiful bouquet of tropical citrus such as start fruit and Buddha's hand that continue to open up in the glass, evolving to notes of lemon meringue pie and toasted oak. On the palate, it coats the mouth with vanilla, kaffir lime leaf, and clove. Perfectly balanced with ripe acidity. (12 Months in 40% new French oak)
