Wine Review: This pitch black colored Malbec from Merriam was a perfect wine for the night I covered it. It is a nice fireplace sipper for a cold New England evening. It opens with a mild black raspberry and boysenberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and rich. The flavor profile is an extracted Acai berry with notes of black cherry. I also detected some hints of gentle boysenberry, plum and a touch of oak. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors and fine tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this wine with Old Croc sharp cheddar cheese with Red Oval stoned wheat crackers. Enjoy - Ken
