Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Merlot from Merriam was well-received by the Tasting Panel. This wine opens with a toasted oak and anise bouquet with a hint of birch beer. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a tart cherry and toasted oak blend. We also detected hints of strawberry licorice, black plum and minerality and a touch of cinnamon. The finish is dry and its mild tannins and flavors drift away nicely. This Merlot also benefits from a little aeration, so swirl it in your glass. It also showed very well on day 2. The Panel suggested pairing this Merlot with Hungarian goulash or with grilled salmon. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This Merlot has a beautiful purple garnet color. This wine smells like a burning spiced berry and vanilla candle on a warm winter day. The fruit bounces across your tongue then makes was for dark dried cherries with notes of vanilla. This wine does not disappoint. It keeps surprising you right to the long lingering berry finish.
