Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Cabernet Franc from Merriam opens with a unique mild rubber and cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and soft, which is a direct reflection of the vintage. The flavor profile is a tart black currant and black olive blend with notes of fig, oak and red plum in the background. The finish is dry and its flavors, mild acidity and gentle tannins drift away nicely. This Cab Franc develops nicely with a little air. Pair it with slow cooked short ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The color graduates from dark purple to magenta along the edge. This wine has an elegant fragrance of warm berry pie, black currant and baking spices. Notes of strawberry, black cherry, vanilla and red plum on the palate. Structured tannins, youthful acidity and a long lingering finish.
