Wine Review: This very dark garnet colored Syrah from Washington State was our second-place finisher in our first big blind tasting of this varietal. It opens with a fragrant black raspberry and oak bouquet with hints of leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and super smooth. The flavor profile is a very tasty black cherry with notes of oak and dark chocolate. We also detected hints of blueberry, spice and toffee. Its wonderful finish is dry and its moderate tannins drift away nicely. The Panel suggested pairing this impressive Syrah with a filet mignon. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The fruit for this Syrah is grown at our acclaimed Spice Cabinet Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. It greets you with aromas of dark, ripe fruit highlighted with delicate notes of violets. A warm smokiness adds depth. In the mouth, the wine is concentrated and lush with sleek tannins that lead into a long, powdery finish. This deep, dark, and brooding wine allows for its many layers to open up as you enjoy. Pair with any Lamb (braised shoulder, chops, grilled, smoked, or stew), Asian-Spiced Beef or Pork (five-spice rubbed, hoisin glazed, Indian spiced) or Paella.
