Wine Review: This unoaked Chardonnay from Monterey County is pale straw in color and opens with aromas of lemon verbena, green apple and a hint of rosemary. The flavor profile is dominated by papaya with other tropical and citrus fruits. The body is medium and the acidity is moderate with good structure. Its Meyer lemon and key lime citrus flavors outlast the fleshy tropical fruits found earlier and the ensemble carries away nicely. Consider pairing this refreshing Chard with a white pizza made of artichoke hearts and Vidalia onion. - Jeoff
Winemaker Notes: The 2017 vintage opens with clean, fresh scents of kiwi, citrus zest, and nectarine. A mineral character calls to mind the rock formations found inside caves. Crisp entry leads into a striking softness and creamy texture. The flavor of lemon squares offers a perfect balance, neither too tart nor too sweet. A faint smokiness is characteristic of wines made from grapes grown in windier stretches of Monterey County. The finish features traces of lemon and lime, filling the mouth with bright notes and lingering freshness.
