Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Mer Soleil is very good. It opens with a cherry-cola and raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, round and rich for a Pinot. The flavor profile is an extracted stewed plum with notes of black pepper, spice and oak. I also detected hints of toasted marshmallows towards the end. The finish is a bit subtle. This Pinot is built to sip with friends who prefer a bigger wine in general. I would pair it with duck confit. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine features scents of ripe cherries with cocoa, blueberry and toasted wood. The palate is all about texture. The entry is soft and round. The main flavor is cherry cobbler and its mingles with cola notes and hints of anise. Tannins are structured yet extremely fine, providing a lush, lingering mouthfeel. On the finish, a wisp of acidity adds balance and freshness.
