Wine Review: This ruby colored blend from Meeker opens with a blueberry and acai berry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a blend of red plum, kirsch and flinty mineral along with notes of blackberry. I also detected hints of black pepper and a touch of oak. The finish is dry and shows a little heat and decent length. I will also note that on day two this wine melds together very well. As a result, I would encourage decanting this wine and pairing it with a messy rack of ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This blend embraces the spirit of the field blends that anchored early winemaking in Dry Creek Valley. Equal parts Zinfandel, Grenache, Carignane, and Petite Sirah, the strengths of each combine to make an incredibly well-rounded wine that has enough structure and acidity to age for at least a decade, if you can keep yourself from drinking it immediately. Blackberry fruit and spice on the nose folds into a classic Dry Creek mid-palate of bramble and earth. Great on its own, it will also pair very well with most things cooked low and slow.
