Wine Review: This pale white gold colored Riesling from Maximin Grunhaus opens with an initial pungent rubber, wet slate, and petrol like aroma with hints of Sprite soda and Juicy Fruit gum. We encourage lots of swirling. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is delicate, elegant, lush, and silky. The flavor profile is poached Anjou pear and quince blend with notes of pineapple, tangy lime, and ginger. We also detected hints of green apple, honey, and chamomile tea. The finish is pleasantly sweet, refined and nicely sustained. The Tasting Panel would serve this Riesling with a Dancing Deer molasses clove cookie or with Chicken Francese. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: An alluring and captivating single-vineyard Riesling in the charmingly delicate and low-alcohol Kabinett style. The Herrenberg vineyard is based more on red slate than its neighbor Abtsberg. This wine is produced in the delicate Kabinett style and exhibits the distinctive stone fruit flavors and red slate minerality that are typical of this vineyard’s terroir.
