Wine Review: This versatile, dry style German Riesling from the Grunhaus estate vineyards is a brilliant golden yellow color. Its enticing bouquet has pineapple, apple blossom, fresh peach, and wet mossy stone aromas. It is crisp and round on the palate, with plus acidity, and medium body, and good balance. A tiny amount of sweetness adds elegance. The apple, white peach, and stony minerality flavors blend with hints of green melon, lime, and saline. The finish is dry with peach pit minerality. It would go well with shrimp Pad Thai. - Mark
Winemaker Notes: This new label replaces the former "Monopol" Riesling and is produced with fruit harvested from the estate’s wholly-owned Abtsberg, Herrenberg, and Bruderberg vineyards. As with the Monopol, the wine perfectly captures the exotic fruit and delicate precision that are classic characteristics of the Grünhaus estate. It is made in the German trocken (dry ) style, which balances a small amount of residual sweetness (less than nine grams per liter) with vibrant acidity. This carries the official VDP classification of “Gutswein” (estate wine). This classic vintage produced exceptionally fine and balanced Rieslings, which are supported by a fresh structure and the characteristic Grünhäuser minerality.
