Wine Review: This pale white gold colored Riesling opens with a fragrant yellow grapefruit and peach pit bouquet with hints of pineapple and brioche. On the palate, this wine is light bodied, delicate and sweet. The flavor is a sweet lemon tea with notes of ginger and apricot. We also picked up hints of green apple and pineapple. The finish is sweet and its flavors drift away nicely. The Panel suggested pairing this nice Riesling with coconut fried shrimp or pork tenderloin with an apricot glaze. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Herrenberg vineyard is based more on red slate, than its neighbor Abtsberg. The wines are more generous and tend to open up sooner than those of Abtsberg but are capable of equal longevity. This wine is produced in the delicate Kabinett style and exhibits the distinctive stone fruit flavors and red slate minerality that are typical of this vineyard’s terroir.
