Wine Review: This impressive pale straw-colored Riesling from Maximin Grunhaus opens with a petrol scented bouquet with hints of dried apricot, bee’s wax and musty earth. On the palate, this wine is light bodied, off-dry, nicely balanced and refined. The flavor profile is a very tasty mild lime and ripe Anjou pear blend with delicate notes of minerality and pineapple throughout. Its finish is nicely extended. While not overly complex, this Riesling is delightful. We could drink a lot of this wine. The Panel suggested serving it slightly chilled on a hot summer day by the pool with seared scallops. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The Herrenberg vineyard is based more on red slate, than its neighbor Abtsberg. The wines are more generous and tend to open up sooner than those of Abtsberg. This wine is produced in the delicate Kabinett style, and exhibits the distinctive stone fruit flavors and red slate minerality that are typical of this vineyard’s terroir.
