Wine Review: This dark ruby and slightly opaque Merlot from Matanzas Creek is a nice weekday Merlot to pair with comfort foods. It opens with a mild red and blue berry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, fruit forward and savory. The flavor profile is a mild mineral infused red currant and red plum blend with hints of strawberry licorice and a touch of orange tea. The finish is dry and its mild tannins noticeably stick around for a little while. This food friendly Merlot would pair well with beef stew or shepherd’s pie. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Color Deep ruby red Aroma and Flavors: Dried blueberries, dried cranberries, black plums and cassis notes. Bittersweet chocolate and cocoa powder comingling with hits of black cardamom. Salty black licorice, green peppercorns and roasted coffee beans. Mouthfeel: graphite, vibrant acidity, seamless tannins and a long finish
