Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Nero d'Avola opens with a black cherry and black licorice bouquet with hints of moist pipe tobacco and prune. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, juicy, bright, and fresh. The flavor profile is black plum and mild prune blend with notes of black licorice and orange zest. I also detected some hints of muddled mint, black tea, cilantro, and a touch of black cherry. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity show nice length. This Nero d'Avola would pair well with shiitake mushroom soup. Enjoy - Ken
