Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Syrah from the Grist Vineyard in Dry Creek opens with a blueberry and new leather bouquet with hints of mild salami and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round and very fresh. The flavor profile is a cedar plank and blueberry blend with notes of stony minerality and candied violets. I also detected some hints of cilantro, gentle salami, apricot, and dried cherry. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and mild tannins drift away nicely. This Syrah would pair nicely with osso buco with a mushroom risotto. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Let yourself be moved. An inspired splash of Viognier scatters dried violets and tiny fragrant flowers across the nose. Syrah takes a second to show itself, like the friend that doesn't want to come to the party but ends up being the life of said party once they’ve entered the room. In other words: big Scorpio energy.
