Wine Review: This beautiful rich yellow colored Pinot Gris from Alsace opens with a ripe Bartlett pear like bouquet with a hint of pineapple. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and very viscous. The flavor profile is a mineral infused ripe pineapple and Bartlett pear blend. It kind of reminded me of an aged Vouvray. The finish is a touch semi-dry and shows a pleasant lingering aftertaste. This wine would pair nicely with swordfish with a lemon drizzle. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: In 2007, the grand cru vineyards influenced the grapes more than ever before. Upon opening, the aromas in the Moenchberg Pinot Gris whisper of ripe fruit. On the palate, the wine is rich with a pervasive minerality balanced by acidity, and a barely-there sweetness. This wine is at once delicate and deep, making it a must have with foie gras, duck and rich cheeses.
