Wine Review: This ruby colored Pinot Noir from Maggy Hawk opens with a mild red raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and nicely balanced between its fruit and acidity. The flavor profile is a tasty black plum with notes of gentle old oak. I also detected hints of red beet and a dash of black pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors fade away nicely. This Pinot is very food friendly. I would pair this one with a pork tenderloin. Order quickly, not much of this one was made. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: On the nose, Afleet opens with dark aromas of blackberry, violets, cigarbox and anise. The palate exposes rich flavors of blueberry, vanilla bean, and espresso that combine with hints of forest floor to reveal a wine with from acidity and a plush, velvety texture. This is a wine with exceptional consistency each year, a wine that will age gracefully – a true tribute to its namesake, Afleet Alex.
