Wine Review: This one was a new one for me. I never have had Banyuls before. It is made from 100% Grenache. I classify it more as a finishing wine as opposed to a true dessert wine. It is slightly opaque and dark ruby colored. It opens with a fragrant red raspberry and Sambuca bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and rich. The flavor profile is a black licorice and fig blend with a hint of black cherry. The finish is dry and shows a little heat, but not nearly like a port. It would pair perfectly with Great Hill blue cheese and fig spread on a thinly sliced baguette. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Deep garnet to color acacia depending on the age. Aromas of dried fruits, red fruits, and cocoa, roasted coffee appearing with the years. Very powerfull, long lenght in mouth, the fruits and the chocolate are the majour aromas of this very long ageing wine.
