Wine Review: This medium gold colored Arneis (arn-nase) opens with a fragrant chamomile tea and honey bouquet with hints of ginger and Anjou pear. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is round, viscous and its acidity gives it a nice bright lift. The flavor profile is a ginger and chamomile tea blend with notes of lemon and saline. I also detected hints of nectarine, white pepper, and nutmeg. The finish is dry and refreshing. It reminded me a lot of Roussanne. I would pair this very nice Arneis with Emeril's kicked up crab cakes! Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2018 M.A. Monticelli Roero Arneis generously wafts from the glass with aromatics of white peaches, pears, orange blossoms, mandarins, and lemon rind. The palate exhibits nice viscosity while maintaining freshness. Flavors of honeysuckle and marzipan on the palate combined with a long-lasting finish showcase the complexity of this beautiful Northern Italian white wine.
