Wine Review: This opaque and dark ruby colored Merlot from Washington state opens with a red currant and red beet bouquet with hints of tobacco, bay leaf and craisin. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, juicy, and very mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a ripe black cherry and spiced black plum blend with notes of cedar, cocoa, and a touch of tart acai berry. The finish is dry and its bold tannins for a Merlot are lengthy. I would pair this Merlot with marinated steak tips off the grill. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: LUKE Columbia Valley Merlot, born on the Wahluke Slope. LUKE reveals the hallmark of great Washington Merlot: dark red fruits, rounded tannins, and an opulent, smooth finish. Fresh flavors of plum, cherry and blackberry dominate the mid-palate while earthy flavors of tobacco, cedar and clove marry vanilla and mocha to extend the wine's long lingering finish.
