Wine Review: If you are looking for an interesting experience with wine, check out this Pet Nat from Germany made from Riesling grapes. It is a very cloudy deep straw-colored wine is loaded with carbonation. There are lots of random small and large bubbles. The nose features lemon drops wet slate, white peach with hints of white florals and honeydew melon. On the palate, it is quite frothy with a medium-minus body and medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, zesty and fresh. The flavor profile is a lemon tea and passionfruit blend with notes of chalky minerality, pineapple, white pepper, saline, and green apple. We also detected hints of almond, yellow grapefruit, and a touch of yeast. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity are mouthwatering and long. This sparkling wine was certainly different. We could certainly sip it on its own. With food, you could pair it with a Thai green curry chicken or with a mushroom white pizza. Enjoy – Ken and Mark
Winemaker Notes: Lucashof Pet Nat is like a strong, bubbly Champagne, without the added sugars! It is also completely unfiltered, so there is a slight cloudiness, that is all natural and completely harmless. When the wine is young, it will be a tad sweet, the result of residual sugars that have not yet fermented. Over time, the wine will become drier but Pet Nat is generally meant to be consumed when the wines are fresh and young. Try as an aperitif or with your favorite shellfish cuisine. (10.5% Alcohol)
