Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Lost Canyon opens with a black raspberry and cola like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, smooth and round. Yet, it has a touch of acidity peeking through. The flavor profile is a tart black raspberry with notes of minerality, black licorice and oak. I also detected hints of blackberry jam. The finish is dry and its flavors and acidity linger for quite a while. This Pinot is drinking nicely right now. It can be enjoyed on its own or with some Kerrigold Dubliner cheese. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This beautiful 25-acre vineyard is situated on the outskirts of Graton. Planted in 1999, the Whitton Vineyard provides the fruit for this full-bodied Pinot Noir. The use of Dijon 115 and Pommard clones leads to a wine that is bold in color, with aromas of plum, fig, raspberry pie and subtle hints of bay leaves. Flavors of black and red cherry, sweet plum and fig are delicately wrapped in firm, elegant tannins and bright balance acidity.
