Wine Review: This deep ruby colored Mencia from Losada is very good. It opens with blackberry bouquet with hints of cherry and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, balanced, soft and round. The flavor profile is plum and cherry blend with notes of nicely integrated fine chalky minerality. I also detected hints of mild red currant and faint oak. The finish is dry and its flavors and grippy tannins add length and structure. This entry-level Mencia is food friendly and would pair well with a pork roast. Enjoy – Ken & Jeoff
Winemaker Notes: From managed vineyards on more gentle slopes in which clay soils predominate, is aged nine months in French oak and expresses the more tender and juicy side of the Mencía variety.
